WhereFi — Privacy Policy

Technesium Solutions Pvt Ltd ("Technesium", "we")
WhereFi does not collect, store, or share any personal data. There is no
account, no analytics, and no server operated by us.
What the app does with data
- Speed tests. The Internet Speed test transfers randomly generated data
between your device and Cloudflare's public speed-test service
(speed.cloudflare.com) solely to measure throughput. The Wi-Fi Speed test
sends measurement packets only to your own router on your own local network,
and never leaves it.
- Your internet provider's name. To show which provider you're connected
to, the app makes one HTTPS request to ipinfo.io, which returns your public
IP address and the name of the network that owns it. As with any web request,
that service necessarily sees the IP address the request comes from; their
privacy policy applies to it (https://ipinfo.io/privacy-policy). We receive
nothing, and neither the address nor the provider name is stored off your
device.
- Results. All test results, site surveys and history are stored only on
your device. They are never uploaded. If you use Share, the report goes only
to the destination you choose.
- Router and network details. The router brand, MAC/BSSID and IP addresses
shown in the app are read locally on your device and are not transmitted to
us or anyone else.
What the app does NOT do
- No analytics or telemetry
- No advertising and no ad SDKs
- No account, sign-in, or email collection
- No tracking of any kind
- No location history — see below
Permissions
- Local Network — required to send measurement packets to your router for
the Wi-Fi Speed test and to ping it during the Wi-Fi check. Used for
measurement only. The app also advertises and looks for its own Bonjour
service (
_wherefi._tcp) purely to detect whether you have granted this
permission, so it can explain why a test would otherwise read zero. It does
not scan for, catalogue, or upload anything about other devices on your
network.
- Location (optional) — Apple requires location permission before an app
may read the name (SSID) and access-point identifier (BSSID) of the connected
Wi-Fi network. WhereFi uses it for exactly that and nothing else. Your
coordinates are never read, never stored, and never transmitted. Declining it
only means reports won't show which network or access point a reading came
from.
Children
The app is suitable for all ages and collects nothing from anyone.

with a revised date. Since the app collects no data, changes are unlikely.
