Sound Recall is an iOS app that trains auditory sequential memory: you hear a run of sounds and then put them back in the order you heard them. It was built for occupational therapy practice.
This policy is short because the app does very little with your information.
Sound Recall has no analytics, no tracking, no advertising and no third-party SDKs. There is no Technesium server involved at any point. Nothing about you, your use of the app, or your results is sent to us, because there is nowhere for it to be sent.
We cannot see your progress, your scores, your name, or whether you use the app at all.
The app keeps a record of your practice on your device: completed rounds, which sounds you got right, your streak, the awards you have earned, and your settings.
By default this never leaves your device.
Signing in is optional — the app works fully without it.
If you do sign in, Apple gives the app an anonymous identifier for you, and your name if you choose to share it. Both are stored on your device only. We do not request your email address. Signing in does not send anything to us.
If you are signed in, your practice record syncs between your own Apple devices so your progress follows you.
Before anything leaves your device it is encrypted with AES-GCM. The encryption key is generated on your device and stored in your iCloud Keychain, which is itself end-to-end encrypted. The key is never sent to us, and Apple does not hold it either.
What is stored in your iCloud account is therefore an encrypted block that only your own devices can open. Apple cannot read it. We cannot read it. This is what "end-to-end encrypted" means here, and it is meant literally.
If you sign out, the app deletes the encryption key from your keychain. The copy held in iCloud can no longer be read by anything, including you.
If you turn on the daily reminder, the reminder is scheduled by iOS on your device. No push server is involved and no notification data reaches us.
The app collects nothing from anyone, of any age.
All recordings bundled with the app are in the public domain or released under CC0 or CC BY, and were obtained from Wikimedia Commons. The Sounds screen shows the licence and author of whatever is playing. No audio is recorded by the app; the app never uses your microphone and does not request microphone access.
Because we hold no data about you, there is nothing for us to disclose, correct, export or delete. To remove everything the app has stored, either use "Reset progress" in Settings or delete the app.
